NIXON, Henry V.

Newport, April 2—Henry Victor Nixon, 78, president of the R. H. Nixon & Company Bank here the past 27 years, died at 2:15 p.m. Saturday at his home following a year of failing health.   Mr. Nixon was born here Jan. 28, 1865 and was a life long resident. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert H. Nixon. He attended DePauw University, specializing in chemistry and later was on the faculty of Indiana Medical College at Indianapolis as an instructor in chemistry. On the death of his father in 1917 he returned to Newport as president of the bank. He was a member of Newport Masonic Lodge. – S

Last rites were held for Batista Bertino, 71, 849 North 8th Street at Frist Funeral Home at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. Burial was in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Mr. Bertino died at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Vermillion County Hospital following an illness of three days. He is survived by one son, Steve, Morgantown, W VA and two granddaughters. -- kbz
